Open–IX Association Selected to Present at The Second Annual Texas Data Center Summit in Plano, TX

Board Member-Elect Josh Snowhorn and Marketing Committee Chair Vinay Nagpal to Discuss Open-IX, Connectivity Challenges & Opportunities in 2014

CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – October 22, 2014 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, announces today that Open-IX board member-elect Josh Snowhorn and new Marketing Committee Chair Vinay Nagpal will speak at The Second Annual Texas Data Center Summit, taking place October 22, 2014 at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano, TX.

Mr. Snowhorn and Mr. Nagpal will join other thought-leaders on the featured panel entitledConnectivity Challenges & Opportunities in 2014, Including Adoption of the Open-IX Model in the U.S. from 2:15 PM – 3:00 PM. The session will explore how the largest data center operators are creating an open Internet environment in the United States. Discussion points will also provide insights on the emergence, growth and future of Open-IX, as well as the Association’s relevance and role in improving the peering landscape in Texas and how the model will create cost-savings for U.S. operators.

Connectivity will also be a key topic of conversation, as panelists provide owner and developer perspectives on site selection and development considerations, connectivity requirements necessary for effective infrastructure support, as well as the verticals that have the biggest impact on connectivity and current trends. Finally, panel participants will provide an analysis of carrier and physical connectivity within the data center as well as compare the Texas metro interconnection / connectivity markets to that of major metros in other states, including New York and San Francisco.

Open-IX recently confirmed its non-profit status as an association organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet community who aim to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. Through broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has produced two consensus-based community standards and certified 21 data centers and two exchanges since its inception approximately one year ago.

The Second Annual Texas Data Center Summit will bring together 500+ leading data center real estate and technology infrastructure executives from Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Austin as well as from around the nation to discuss the region’s most important trends, patterns, opportunities and challenges. The agenda features key topics including data/cloud security, Texas investment and development considerations, analyses of customer demand, and more.
